African Drumming Workshops for Schools

West African drumming workshops for primary and secondary schools, taught by an experienced and professional African teacher and true Master of his art. Workshops are delivered across Wirral, Liverpool, Merseyside, Cheshire and beyond.

Ibro's drumming workshops for schools are about having fun and experiencing the thrill of making music together in a group whilst learning about the music and culture of Guinea, West Africa. Drumming together in a circle is a very powerful method of building young people’s confidence and self-esteem.

One of the great benefits of learning to drum with Ibro is the authenticity with which he is able to share his culture. When drumming with Ibro, the vibrancy and warmth of Africa is almost tangible.

Testimonials

"The Year 5 and 6 children thoroughly enjoyed the workshop, it was really well structured and they all got to have a go on the Djembe. The singing was nice to round it off at the end, and they learned a bit about the background to the culture as well, which helped as they are studying this as part of their theme work. Thank you! Would recommend!"
- Ellesmere Port Christ Church Primary School

“…a brilliant job with the children in such a short time, and the kids obviously really enjoyed performing…”

"Please pass my thanks again to Ibro for the work he did with the children at Devonshire Park, and his input at the concert today. It went very well, and although he wouldn't have seen it, there were tears in many eyes when the children sang the chant in Susu."

"Fantastic! The students thoroughly enjoyed the workshops, thank you!"
